about the
ICC

The International Center for Creativity is a Columbus, Ohio-based think tank that delivers "creativity" consultation for corporations, working professionals, artists and individuals, and has also partnered with Cedarville University to deliver a cutting-edge Industrial and Innovative Design degree program.

The ICC was conceived in 2001 during a “coffee shop meeting” between business collaborators, Jim “JD” Orr, Tom Balliett and Jim Stevenson, where Jim Orr shared his passion for young people and evidence that he kept uncovering while consulting for corporate clients and design firms. These entities expressed a need in the marketplace to “recapture the heart, soul and imagination” of design through inspiring young people with not just the artistic talent, but also the vision and integrity to reshape the future of industrial design.

While the digital phenomenon was transforming the “production” environment, it was proving to be an impediment to “ideations and concepting” environment. Industry wanted rapid visualization skills, hand-crafted work that would translate to digital environments and mostly, people with creative problem solving skills. That day the journey started to reinvent the industrial design education process…a journey that led to a first-of-its-kind partnership with Cedarville University, and is now growing rapidly, and projected to be near capacity in just three years operating out of a world class facility and attracting world changing talent.
